Obituary of Charlotte B. Overbey
OVERBEY, Charlotte B.
95, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Palms of Pasadena
Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, OH to Charles and Anna Bischoff,
she moved with her husband, David T. Overbey Jr. in 1954 to St.
Petersburg, where he established a private practice in Internal
Medicine. As an RN, she assisted her husband in his practice,
volunteered in the community, and with him raised a family of
five children. Always desiring a college education, Mrs. Overbey
in her later years completed studies and received a BA in
English at USF St. Petersburg. After Dr. Overbey passed away
in 2001, Mrs. Overbey found solace and joy in her family, faith,
and friends. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church
for more than 50 years and a lifelong member of the Council
of Catholic Women. She volunteered at the St. Petersburg Free
Clinic for many years, even into her 80s. Mrs. Overbey loved
people and found common ground with everyone she met. She
was an outstanding cook, preparing near daily meals for her
family and guests. Mrs. Overbey was beautiful, both inside and
out. She will long be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind
and easy disposition, quiet and humble manner, and goodwill
and generosity to all. She is survived by her children, Anne M.
Turner (Craig) of Temecula, CA, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Overbey
of Chesapeake, VA, David T. Overbey III of Springfield, VA,
Barbara R. Gomer (Glenn), and Louis D.C. Overbey (Lila) of St.
Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 4-6 pm, at Anderson
McQueen, 2201 Dr. ML King Jr. St. N. A funeral mass will be held
Monday, June 4, at 10 am, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.
