Obituary of Richard Lane

RICHARD ALLEN LANE, BORN ON OCTOBER 13, 1947 IN WATERVILLE, MAINE.

HE WENT TO HEAVEN ON JULY 30, 2018.  HE WAS SURROUNDED BY HIS LOVING WIFE, JANE, AND ADORED DAUGHTERS JENNIFER AKINS LANE AND AMANDA LaPOINTE LANE.

DICK LANE OWNED MARINER CAR WASH AND DETAILING CENTER FOR OVER 30 YEARS.  BEFORE THAT, HE RAN THE ELDORADO CAR WASH IN TAMPA WHICH HE LED TO A RECORD BREAKING VOLUME IN THE SOUTHEAST FOR 20 YEARS. DICK WAS A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL CAR WASH ASSOCIATION AND SERVED ON THE BOARD OF THE SOUTHEASTERN CAR WASH ASSOCIATION.

DAN HANNA OF HANNA INDUSTRIES IN PORTLAND, OREGON CALLED DICK AND ASKED HIM TO FLY TO HIS COMPLEX ON HANNA DRIVE TO DISCUSS NEW SOLUTIONS FOR HOW CAR WASH TRACKS AND BRUSHES COULD WORK BETTER. TOGETHER THEY BUILT SENSORS INTO THE CONCRETE ALONG THE EDGE TO START THE BRUSHES AND WAXES INSTEAD OF THE OLD PLASTIC WANDS THAT WOULD SWIPE THE CAR TO TURN THEM ON. DICK WANTED TOUCHLESS AND BRUSHLESS EQUIPMENT AND AFTER SEVERAL YEARS THEY WERE INSTALLED IN MOST CAR WASHES IN AMERICA.  DICK ALSO DEMANDED THAT ONLY THE FINEST WAXES AND PRODUCTS WERE TO BE USED IN HIS DETAILING CENTER.  HE LOVED THE CAR WASH INDUSTRY AND MEETING ALL OF THE CUSTOMERS AND HELPING THEM WITH THEIR CAR NEEDS.  HE DONATED HIS TIME AND MONEY AND ASSETS TO MANY PEOPLE THAT COULDN’T AFFORD THEIR NEEDS WITHOUT SAYING A WORD ABOUT WHAT HE WAS DOING.

DICK LOVED SNOW SKIING, BAREFOOT WATER SKIING, BOATING (FAST) AND BEING AN INSTRUCTOR TEACHING STUDENTS WITH PORSCHES HOW TO DRIVE BETTER AND SHOW THEM HOW MUCH MORE THEIR PORSCHES COULD DO. HE DID THIS AT SEBRING INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY AND BELONGED TO THE SUNCOAST PORSCHE CLUB OF AMERICA.  HE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT ON THE TRACK. HE MADE SO MANY FRIENDS THERE AND THEY LOVED EVERY CHANCE THAT THEY COULD GET ON THE TRACK TO REALLY RACE EACH OTHER. ONE TIME, THE PORSCHE CLUB RENTED DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY.  HE HAD TO DRIVE AT LEAST 167 MPH TO STAY ON TOP OF THE BANKING SPEEDWAY.  HE DID IT WITH PURPOSE AND ELATION.

HE LOVED GOING TO COSTA RICA WITH HIS FELLOW SQUIRES AND THROUGHLY ENJOYED

ALL THE FREINDSHIPS HE MADE ON THOSE TRIPS. HE LOVED HAVING FUN WITH HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY – ALWAYS UP TO SOMETHING TO MAKE FUN FOR EVERYONE.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS ADORING WIFE, JANE AFTER 51 YEARS OF MARRIAGE. HE IS SURVIVED

BY HIS DAUGHTERS JENNIFER AND AMANDA.  HE ADORED HIS GRANDDAUGHTERS, ERICA MARIE

RITTER AND HER HUSBAND RYAN RITTER. HE ALSO LOVED DEARLY HIS GRANDDAUGHTER

SARA JANE ABRAMO AND HER HUSBAND CRAIG ABRAMO.  THANKS TO SARA JANE, HE

WAS BLESSED FINALLY WITH BOYS!  IAN LANE ABRAMO, ZACK AKINS ABRAMO AND

CRAIG FRANCIS ABRAMO.

HE WAS PREDESCEASED BY HIS MOTHER AND FATHER, ARTHUR LANE AND LORENE LANE AND BROTHER, DARYL.
