Obituary of LaWanda Martha Shaffer

LaWanda M. Shaffer, 91, of St Petersburg, FL passed away August 12, 2018 at Bon Secours Maria Manor Nursing Facility. She was born on January 3, 1927 in Pennsylvania to parents, Leona (Schattenberg) and Floyd Zerbe.

She attended Hamot School of Nursing in Erie, PA and graduated in 1947, having earned her Nursing diploma. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Hamot Hospital for 35 years until her retirement. Her nursing career and her family were her greatest accomplishments.

Lawanda is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Brenda Shaffer (Lynda), Tim Shaffer (Dana), and Scott Shaffer; grandchildren, Mitch, Morgan, Rachel, and Kyle; as well as many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Donald Shaffer; sister, Bonnie Zerbe, and brother, Chuck Zerbe.

Services will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Cemetery in Cranberry, PA at a later date to be announced. Donations can be made in LaWanda’s honor to the Red Cross or Easter Seals.
