Karen Greenfield

Obituary of Karen L. Greenfield

Karen Greenfield died suddenly on August 29, 2018 in her home in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Karen was first a mom to Katie and Kyle, joining FOCUS after moving to Atlanta in 1998. Kyle had Sanfilippo Syndrome and she navigated the special needs world with other FOCUS moms. When Kyle died suddenly at age 12 in 2001, she wanted to continue to help other parents. She joined the FOCUS staff in 2003 as the Camp & Respite Director, putting her knowledge and experience to work. She retired in 2015, moving to Florida for some well-earned rest and sunshine.  She didn’t rest long, though!  She and husband Bill earned new titles “Nana and PopPop” after the birth of Katie’s son Fisher two years ago.

Karen’s heart was big and her love for our kiddos bigger. We like to think she’s in heaven organizing art projects, taking photos, and giving out hugs to the many sweet kids who left us too early.   Our thoughts are with Bill, Katie & Chris, and Fisher.  If you have a special memory of Karen, please post in the comments or email to lucy@focus-ga.org

An open house will be held to remember Karen on September 16 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The family requests no flowers; donations may be made to FOCUS + Fragile Kids at www.focus-ga.org.
