Obituary of Joan Marie Gerardo
Gerardo, Joan Marie, 64, of St Petersburg, died at 10:27 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018, at home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A native of St. Petersburg, she graduated from St. Pete High and St. Petersburg College, working as a dental hygienist for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, MaryJane and Charles Robert “Bob” Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, who was at her side, and her sons David, Brendan & Michael, their wives, Stacy, Janeen & Evelynn, grandchildren Matthew, Katelyn, Sarah & Julianne, siblings Kathy Hofmann, Patricia Brown, Robert Johnson, MaryEllen Christian, Rev. James Johnson, Carolyn Johnson & Michael Johnson. A devoted wife and mother, Joan exhibited loving kindness, tender compassion, wisdom and understanding. Humble at heart, she shied away from attention, but was always willing to help others. Her red hair and radiant smile lit every room she entered. Strong in character and faith, her kind and gentle heart will be remembered by all who knew her. A public visitation will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6-8 PM, Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St N. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, September 8, 2018 at noon, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1800 12th St N, St. Petersburg.
