I went to Meadowlawn Junior High and Northeast High School with Roy. I remember his mother always supported the band by marching alongside Roy at any parades. He dedicated his life to others....a good person.

I always admired Roy, during his tenure in Largo Band of Gold, as I thought he was a driving influence in the outcome of the quality of the character of the students in the world known group. His light was kept under a basket, and that was undeserved, as he should have received much more credit for the outcome of the lives of these children, as they moved on thru life. He commands much respect from me !

I am very sorry for your loss. May our loving Heavenly Father, the God of all comfort, strengthen you during this most difficult time as he promises to. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Soon He promises to rid the earth of all the sickness, pain, and death we see so often today. Death hurts and when God created us he never meant for us to experience it. (Revelation 21:4 and Psalm 37:11) Again, I am very sorry.

Mr. Aerts was also a positive influence . I was in the Largo High School Band and graduated in 1977. I became a part of the Fife and Drum Corp. I wanted to carry a flag for the Festival of States parade. Mr. Aerts told me I was too small and would blow away. He told me I would need to learn how to play the fife and if not, I would have to fake it. So I did, fake it! He was a great leader that did so much for the children of other people. May he RIP. God Bless! Jeri
