Obituary of Catherine Saalman
Catherine Pollock Saalman, 77, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on February 4, 2019 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. Catherine, also known as Judy, was born in Quincy, IL and worked for years as a librarian. An avid reader, her mantle remains filled with books. She was devoted to educational excellence and had a formative role in her daughter’s pursuit of foreign languages and higher-level degrees. Catherine lived a life filled with travel to exotic locales on nearly every continent. She also remained very active with yoga, Zumba, and jogging on Redington Beach. Catherine was a devoted ballroom dancer, participating in numerous competitions. She was always generous with family and friends, and extremely adept at selecting just the right gift and wrapping it with an expert bow. Throughout her days and until her final breath, she lived life on her own terms by demonstrating bravery and a strength of resolve. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter Lora Saalman Ofner and husband Thomas Ofner, as well as her brother Ted Pollock and his family Dianna, Lanny, Tom, Laura, Tommy, Emily, Henry, and Lucy. Catherine’s memorial service will start at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 8 at Anderson-McQueen, N.E. St. Petersburg Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. M.L. King Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
