Chris Winans and I, as his wife, will be forever grateful for Mr. Bayless for extra effort he put into being a teacher and mentor. I wish I had met him but I feel like I already have from the stories Chris has told all these years. Some people make a huge impact in other people’s lives and never know it. Thank you.

I had the privilege of being a student of Mr. Bayliss in 1974/75 at Gibbs. He was a wonderful teacher and role model for all of us. He helped us make cherished memories of high school. My sincerest sympathy for your family’s loss.

Dear Randy and Family,
Laureen Woods called me and told me of the passing of your Brother Steve. It was a real shock as I know it must have been for you all also. Steve was such a fine man, friend and good
Christian. We had a lot of great times there at the old First Baptist Church downtown. It is not easy to accept the death of a close brother but just know that he is there in Heaven rejoicing with your mother and father and we can look forward to seeing all of them when our Lord comes again. so sorry that we could not be there to comfort you and your family in person but Shirley's mother is 97 now and lives with us and can not be left alone here in Hiawassee, GA. God Bless you all.
Love,
Ward and Shirley

Remembering Steve's kind and helpful attitude towards everyone. His influence on other teachers was very subtle, yet he was always working in the interest of others humbly and effectively. He was one of the good guys of a special generation that affected theatre locally and state-wide. He will be missed.

Please accept my condolence in your loss of Steve as brother, friend, mentor, teacher and so much more. He was the dearest of souls and always treated everyone he met with respect, dignity, and gentleness. The effect he has had on so many lives does not go unnoticed or appreciated.
He is deeply missed.
