To Anita's family.
Please know that she was a true bright star here at the College of Marine Science. She was the most reliable team-mate on the entire staff. I often joke with my team that my job is "to make your life easier and better" with what I do to help them w/ their jobs. But I've never been anything compared to Anita. She always embodied that statement and helped above and beyond every day that she could. She cannot be replaced. She's simply too special. I miss her tremendously. One of my favorite people to ever work with. I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Anita's passing. She was such a sweet and caring person with such a positive outlook. She was one of the best Sponsored Research Administrators at USF. I had no idea she was sick that long. My sincere condolences.

I am saddened to hear of Anita's passing. Anita was a Sponsored Research Administrator for my college and she was absolutely wonderful. I was disappointed when she took a position in Marine Science in St. Pete but knew it was a great opportunity for her and we continued to keep in touch. I was so surprised to read that she had been battling cancer for 11 years because she never let on that she was sick. She was extremely friendly, funny and was an excellent colleague for sharing knowledge. She certainly touched my heart and I will miss her. I hope she is resting comfortably in God's hands. My prayers are with you. I can only imagine how much you must have loved her and now miss her.

I feel honored to have known Anita. She was such a nice, warm, down to earth person. She always asked how you were doing, how you were feeling, and put others needs before hers. She had a quick and contagious laugh. It was a joy to hear that laugh. She was probably the strongest person I will ever know. She set high standards by which to live. She had a way of putting that little special touch on things that would make you smile. There are just not enough words to express what a wonderful person she was. I have only just touched the surface of the special qualities she possessed as a person. I will miss sharing with her the events of my day or what I have heard this week or how I feel about something. As I am sure with many other people who have known her, she will always be with me tucked away in a small part of my heart.

Anita devoted herself to promoting the research of faculty and staff at the College of Marine Science, all the while doing so with a gentle and positive spirit. She was always willing to step up to do anything that needed to be done. She was a special friend and I will miss her cheerful attitude for a long time to come. Rest in peace, Anita.

Anita Thompson was an amazing human being. She was a true philanthropist who gave of her time, talent and resources from the heart without wanting anything in return.
Over the past couple years, Anita asked me about my Mini Cooper because she was interested in buying one for fun. She also was interested in a convertible Solara. On the day that Anita decided to end her fight with cancer, both a green truck (much like hers) and a Solara passed me on the highway. I looked over at my partner and vocalized this story and hoped that Anita would be able to get her fun ride. I learned the next day of her passing and this story took on a whole new meaning. Anita was telling me, you and everyone not to wait!
I will miss her as many will also. Hugs, Howard

I am sad to say that I did not know Anita very well, but she worked down the hall from me, helped me with projects, and we occasionally rode the elevator together. It takes a very special type of person to leave a lasting impression in 30-second intervals, and Anita was that person. She always brightened my day with her kind and thoughtful manner. Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of a truly wonderful person.
With caring thoughts,
Matt McCarthy
