Obituary of Winifred T. Chassereau

Winifred "Winnie" T. Chassereau, age 91, passed away on November 25, 2019 at Bon Secours Maria Manor Nursing Home in St. Petersburg, FL. Winnie was born in Gumberry, North Carolina on March 27, 1928 to the late Raymond and Dela (Gay) Taylor. She attended Kerbys School of Beauty and also completed 3 years of schooling at Roanoke Rapids School of Nursing. Following her education, she worked as a nurse at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC and later became a homemaker, dedicating herself to her children and family. She was also an active member of the Coast Guard CPOAA and regularly attended Liberty Baptist Church. Apart from her time in North Carolina, Winnie also resided in several other places throughout her life, including Brooklyn, New York, Millington Tennessee, both San Juan and Borinquen in Puerto Rico, and Miami, Florida. In her spare time, she enjoyed cake decorating as well as collecting cookbooks and bears. Winnie is survived and will be dearly missed by her son, Ray Chassereau (Melissa); step-son, John L. Chassereau, Jr. (Lisa); grandchildren, Kristen Tewell, Jessica Chassereau, Steven Chassereau, and Sarah Sunley; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Chassereau, Sr., as well as her grandson, Timothy Chassereau. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 1:30pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 2pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in St. Petersburg directly after Winnie's services.
