Obituary of Michelle Barbara Magnell

Michelle B. Magnell age 68 passed away on December 19, 2019 in Tampa FL after a brave battle with a congenital heart condition.

Michelle was born October 22, 1951 in Winthrop MA to the parents of Robert F. and S. Elena Magnell. She lived in Somerville, Quincy, Cambridge and Braintree MA until this past July when she moved to St.  Petersburg, FL.

Despite the obstacles she faced from a congenital heart condition and many surgeries, she lived a long life. She underwent both the Blalock & Fontan procedures at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, and she survived more than 40 years beyond expectations for her condition; and was their oldest living patient with those procedures until her passing.

Michelle never had children of her own, but was a sister, aunt and great aunt to many. She loved and treated them all as they were her own and will be remembered by them as a warm, caring, kindhearted and giving person.

Michelle worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts for almost 20 years and left in 1990. Michelle loved a good Red Sox game, working on crafts and was a lifetime member of weightwatchers.

Preceded in death by her loving Father Robert F. Magnell; Grandparents Salvatore (Frank) and Freda Magnell, Domenico and Angelina Scimone.

Survived by her Mother S. Elena (Scimone) Magnell; Sister of Steven Magnell and wife Ellen (Freda), Dennis Magnell and partner Marilyn (McKenney), Lance Magnell and wife Joan, Jeffrey Magnell and wife Linda, Andrea Kontos and husband Larry, Roberta Straughn and husband Scott, and David Magnell.

Also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.
