Miss this you so much. 40 years today sweetheart. I am going tell everyone just like you did last year, the hostess, waiter uber drive and a few people on the sidewalk. Just wish you were here to celebrate with me.

Uncle Si and his family were the first people that welcomed me and my family when we first arrived in Florida in 2006. Along with Lek and his wonderful family, they were the bedrock of my life during my time there, and offered many life lessons to me as I stumbled on and on into adulthood. He always believed in me, encouraged me to continue with research and was always willing to share his observations about his time being a young gun in the lab world. He humbled me and gave me so much perspective about being a Chicagoan in Florida, and it was through him that I learned to appreciate how unique of an existence it was. Flanked by his greatest champions, Lori and Zach, Si was a larger than life guy who knew that the essence of life was to share its joys with others, and that he did...and did it well.
Thank you for everything Uncle Si. Thank you for sharing, thank you for being you, and thank you for giving a damn. Thank you for your faith in me, and thank you for showing how connected you, Lori and Zach were to my life...even before I was born.
Thank you for everything,
Kane K.

Si was the most caring and generous friend a person could have. He was not afraid to question authority and willingly gave support to all staff regardless of their rank. He was a complex mixture of Redneck cowboy; for his love of country music, pick-up trucks and street racing, Sophistication: for his love of fine wine, food and classical music (Vivaldi), Outdoors man; for his love of fishing and simply being on the waters of Tampa Bay, Scientist; for his application of knowledge to help patients get the proper diagnosis, and most importantly, a Kind and Gentle soul. Si is the perfect example of why we need diversity in this country. I learned so much about the Thai culture from him. He will be greatly missed.

Whenever Uncle Si and Aunt Lori came to visit, us kids knew it would always be fun. Uncle Si was always able to make our mom laugh and relax which was not easy at times. And boy could he cook. I remember the time we got to go to museums in Chicago and he was my buddy. I was about 8 or 9 and remember thinking I lucked out. I thought he would get one of my brothers but I got him. He liked cracking jokes the whole time but I also learned he liked knowing/learning stuff. It wasn't school to him. I remember him getting us our first swing set and putting it together. I think it took twice as long to put it together because he let all 4 of us kids help and the fun was in figuring it out without reading the directions.... I think. I remember envying the present of a Walkman to my little brother and trying to hide it. Only to have one sent to me a couple of weeks later. I asked for some small dollar store candles for my wedding and I got lovely Pier One candles. At my rehearsal dinner Uncle Si was smiling, laughing and cooking. That was Uncle Si. Uncle Si sailed life on the "Joie de Vivre" and he took everyone around him with him. It was the greatest gift he gave everyday.

We lived 2 doors down from Si and his family. One day he invited us to come over for Christmas with his family. We went over (along with several of the neighbors) and the whole family invited us all in with open arms. Si shared his fine taste in wine with us and his Chicago pizza he ordered in bulk just because we were his neighbors. Si was Always smiling and loving and living life to the fullest. Si, you will be missed.

I always looked forward to Si's Facebook postings when he was cooking. When I was going through a very bad time it was Si that sent me a message and told me no matter what we are family and he considered me a sister. I loved him and he will be greatly missed by all. My prayers and thoughts are with his family at this time.
