Obituary of Jose Rovira

Jose A. Rovira, 97, passed away to heaven in March 4th, 2020 in the city of Saint Petersburg, Florida. Jose was born January 27th, 1923 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and lived in the state of Florida for the past 39 years. As a young man, he supported his mother Fabiana and his siblings after the death of his father Antonio. He served in the the Army during WWII where he proudly served his country and while there; he played his favorite sport: baseball. He worked many years in the banking industry and also running a business. In 1981, he moved his family to Florida for a better life and opportunity. Jose loved building gazebos, bird houses, decks and landscaping. He hated being called old (viejito yo?) and liked to look nice. Yes, he knew he was handsome!

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dalila; and his daughters: Yolanda, Fanny and Nancy. Also, daughter-in law Lynn, son-in laws Jim and Guillermo; grand-sons: Jose Javier and Jack; and grand-daughters: Monique and Melissa; and six great-grandchildren, sister Isabel and brother Pepe Rovira and Goddaughter Maribel.

He was loved by many, for his kind and loving disposition and always wanting to seek justice for the defenseless. And, if you knew him, you understood his love for baseball!

Family and friends are invited to remember Jose in his memorial service to be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Saint Petersburg on Friday March 27th 2020 at 1:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested.
