Obituary of Carolyn Flint Martin

Carolyn Flint Martin, 92, of St. Petersburg passed away March 29th at her home in Largo, FL. Born in Glens Falls, New York, she moved to St. Petersburg at an early age. After graduating from St. Petersburg High School and Florida State University with Honors, Carolyn married Max R. Stover. 1LT Stover was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously for meritorious valor in combat operations in Korea, and is recognized through the dedication of the 1LT Max Stover U.S. Army Reserve Center in downtown St. Petersburg. In 1954, Carolyn remarried Ted Martin, a local insurance professional, whose firm Martin Richmire & Co. was merged with another local firm after his passing in 1982.

She was an educator in Pinellas County and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime learner, an avid traveler, a fan of Broadway musicals, a gardener and a passionate educator.

Carolyn is survived by her sibling Tricia Godshall Flint, three children, six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Carolyn was a loving mother and will be sorely missed. Her memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 30th at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St. Petersburg, FL.  Due to the current health concerns in our community, details for the service will be posted once they are confirmed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice of Florida.
