Obituary of Hector Rivera

Hector "Rafael" Rivera passed away at the age of 70 on Tuesday, July 28th. He split his time in recent years between Gulfport, Florida and Newport News, Virginia, but his passion and influence have reached far beyond. His life was filled with music, playing guitar and singing in bars, restaurants, and for private parties and weddings for over 50 years. He was most alive when playing his guitar and singing for others. From Saratoga Springs, New York all down the east coast, Hector brought joy and inspiration to those who got to see him perform and even more to those who got to know him as a person. His energy and spirit will continue to live on in his wife and son, Lisa Kochian and Ethan Rivera, as well as all of the others who have been a part of his life. There will be no in person services at this time, but several events both live and virtual will be scheduled to let those who loved him and were affected by him celebrate his life. Hector is survived by his two sisters, Sally Radcliff of Michigan and Rosemary Motichek of Texas and his brother, Jay Nieves of Florida.
