Obituary of Peter Garino

Peter J. Garino "Pete", 96, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away peacefully at home August 7, 2020.

He was born in 1924, in Paterson, NJ where he grew up until he joined the military. During his time in the US Army Air Corp during WWII, he was a pilot who served in the Philippines and Japan. After his military service he returned to Paterson, and went on to get his Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University.

Pete is preceded in passing by his first wife, Margaret; daughter, Maura; son, Michael; and brothers, Paul & Ernest Garino. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Aida; children, Peter, Paul, John & Michelle; stepchildren, Shauntae, Andre & Gabriela; grandchildren, Glen Thomas, Joseph, Kaitlin, Eric, Jacquelyn, Lauren, Danielle, Alexander, Andrew & Isabel; step grandchildren, Alyssa, Ayanna, Rafaella & Jian.

He was a wonderful husband. He was an amazing father to 6 children. He worked tirelessly to send his children to college and to be a wonderful and supportive father. Pete also helped raise his 3 step children, providing them the love, support and guidance that made them the adults they are today.

Pete was a past president of the Treasure Island Art Guild, and remained very passionate about art and his painting. Some of his favorite things were traveling with his spouse, and loved going to places like Paris, Italy, Spain, and South America. He also enjoyed aviation and history, specifically anything WWI, Einstein, or Stephen Hawking.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Suncoast Hospice Empath Health.
