Jean Neet

Obituary of Jean (Wheatley) Neet

Jean (Wheatley) Neet passed away on September 20, 2020 at age 92 with her loving daughter and son at her side.  A native Floridian, she was born on September 22, 1927 in St. Petersburg.  Jean was a proud and dare we say, one of the most beautiful graduates of St. Petersburg High School and St. Petersburg Junior College.

In 1953 she married her soul mate, William E. (Bill) Neet.  Jean exemplified the words of James 1:19 - quick to listen, slow to speak and rarely angry.  Bill and Jean spent their retirement in Inverness, Florida.  From the deck of their cabin, they enjoyed birdwatching, their azalea garden, and the simple pleasure of each other’s company.

Jean was a kind and gentle wife, mother, and grandmother and served as the family’s soul and foundation.  Her good humor, love for others, and easy ability to make others smile or laugh (especially Bill) was a light to the family.  She was an accomplished artist and demonstrated her love of nature through her beautiful watercolor paintings.  Jean’s wisdom, patience, and love of all things living is a priceless legacy to her family and friends.

Jean is now reunited with her husband of 64 years, Bill.  Her spirit is carried on by her, daughter Jill Warren (John); son, Richard (Virginia); grandchildren, Christian, Maiken, Jennifer, and Richard and six great-grandchildren.  Jean also leaves behind her brother, William Wheatley; brother-in-law, Lewis Parham and nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to those who cared for Jean during her final months, especially Dominic, whose compassion and reassuring smile were a daily comfort.

A celebration of Jean’s life will take place at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in Jean’s name to Suncoast/Empath Health Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Boulevard, Clearwater, FL 33760, or the charity of your choice.
