Obituary of Sara Katherine Crotty

Crotty, Sara “Kathy”, 79 passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2020 in Tampa, FL.  Kathy was born in Roanoke, VA on June 12, 1941, and moved to St. Petersburg, FL with her family, where she spent most of her life.  Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Paul, her brother Thomas “Tommy” Speer, and her parents, Sanford “Speedy” Speer and Jane Hill Speer.  She is survived by her children, Paul Crotty Jr. and Kelly Crotty Sanidas;  her grandchildren, Heather, Gregory (Greg), Sarah and Madeline (Maddy); great-grandchildren Cooper and Charlotte.

Kathy  graduated from St. Pete High School and attended St. Petersburg College, marrying her husband Paul in 1963.  She worked at GTE and Verizon for over 30 years in several positions, making many friends along the way.

Kathy loved art and classical music.  An avid painter and photographer, she spent much time in downtown St. Petersburg and Pass-a-grill Beach, taking photographs which provided inspiration for her oil paintings.

Kathy will be truly missed by her family, friends, and beloved dog, Abbie.  The family will hold a private graveside service at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
