Obituary of Ellsworth Valentine King Evans

Ellsworth “E/Ell/Junior” Valentine King Evans of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away suddenly on Friday, March 5th, 2021. He is survived by his wife Debra, his children Essence, Tanysha, Ellsworth Jr., Elijah, Exander, Caitlin and Madison, grandchildren Riley, Athena and Finley, his brothers Michael, Chester and Dempsey, and sisters Ismay and Norma.

Ellsworth will be buried next to his Mother at the Hilltop Cemetery in Elk Grove, California.

Ell lived a full life that positively impacted thousands of people around the world. His 28 years of uniformed service to the United States culminated in 2017 when he retired as a Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army. During those years, his family and children also served, as a Soldier is never successful without family support. From his years in Kuwait, Egypt, and middle eastern combat zones to South Korea overseeing 1100 U.S. and South Korean Soldiers and multiple locations around the United States, Ell proudly served his Nation, the Military Police Corps and the Soldiers within his care. For his service he was awarded the Legion of Merit, six Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medal, multiple Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, proudly wore the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and many more awards and accolades. Ell also earned a Bachelor's Degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY and two Master's Degrees from Webster University in Saint Louis, MO. Upon retiring from the Army, Ell became a Department of Army Civilian where he continued positively impacting Leaders and Soldiers around the country. While Ell's professional life is filled with
accomplishments, his personal life and family were the bed-rock of his soul.

He was a “Momma's boy” with a tender, giving heart, a part of him only known by his family. He loved to talk about his children, how proud he was of them and often expressed regret that he did not have more time to spend with them. He loved the recent years where he could be the doting GrandFather. Outside of his Wife Deb, the children and grandchildren filled his life with joy and purpose. Ell and Deb enjoyed living in St. Petersburg, FL but never wavered in support of his favorite sports team, the San Francisco 49ers. Ellsworth loved his fast cars and had a need for speed. He was overall a man of Faith, leaving a footprint on all that came into contact with him, giving each a sense of belonging and comfort in his path. Ellsworth has left an ever-lasting impression on this Earth and will be celebrated, remembered, and cherished forever.

Funeral services will be held at the Anderson McQueen Funeral Home at 7820 38th Ave. North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Visitation will be from 1500-1600 and with a memorial following from 1600-1700.
