Obituary of William Smith

William "Billy" Smith, 77, of St Petersburg passed away suddenly on April 28th, 2021. Billy grew up in Canada where he was a star hockey player in Juniors, and he went on to play professionally. He met the love of his life, Mary-Jane, in Springfield, Mass. and they had two cherished daughters. After making St. Petersburg his home, Billy worked at Prudential and Aegon for many years. Billy was a great man and a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in-law, and friend. He most loved spending time with his family and friends; and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary-Jane; beloved daughters, Janelle Norris (Frank) and Jenny (Michael Kohn); amazing grandchildren Nathan, Natalie, and William "Will"; sister Gloria Davidson (Donald) and brother Allan Smith (Nancy Ann) of Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews (Heather, Brian, Alice, Nancy, Scott, Alanna, Danika, Dylan, Patrick, Joey, Suzie and Brian). Billy's sincerity, generosity, and kindness will continue on as an inspiration to all of us and he will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5/11 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr MLK St N, St Petersburg. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday May 12th at St Paul's Catholic Church, 1800 12th St Noth, St Petersburg.
