Mario was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and involved with numerous Catholic Charities and ministries. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to golf and to be around his family. His grandson Michael was especially important to him in recent years, and they would watch the birds, walk the dog, play baseball in the backyard, play cards, and do all the other things a Papa would do with his only grandson.

Mario was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; grandmother Yole, and grandfather Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, June; children Lisa Vitrano of St. Petersburg and Philip Vitrano of St. Petersburg; grandson Michael Vitrano; mother Esther Vitrano of St. Petersburg; sibilngs Pauline (Steve) Dodd of Kingston, MA, and Vinny (Kathy) Vitrano of St. Petersburg; eleven nieces and nephews, and twenty-seven great-nieces and nephews.
