Obituary of Mario Vitrano

Mario Vitrano, age 69, of St. Petersburg, went home to Jesus on May 7, 2021. He was born to Ralph and Esther Vitrano of Hyde Park, Massachusetts on October 16, 1951. He married June (Schofield) Vitrano on June 22, 1990. The following year, Mario and June moved to St. Petersburg and started a family. He worked at E.L. Shearer Concrete and Masonry. Mario was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and involved with numerous Catholic Charities and ministries. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to golf and to be around his family. His grandson Michael was especially important to him in recent years, and they would watch the birds, walk the dog, play baseball in the backyard, play cards, and do all the other things a Papa would do with his only grandson.

Mario was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; grandmother Yole, and grandfather Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, June; children Lisa Vitrano of St. Petersburg and Philip Vitrano of St. Petersburg; grandson Michael Vitrano; mother Esther Vitrano of St. Petersburg; sibilngs Pauline (Steve) Dodd of Kingston, MA, and Vinny (Kathy) Vitrano of St. Petersburg; eleven nieces and nephews, and twenty-seven great-nieces and nephews. Mario is also survived by his dog, Nala, who will greatly miss her walks with him.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 14th from 5-8pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 9am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1800 12th Street. Burial will follow the mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 10:45am.
