Obituary of Joseph Carl Spinner, Jr.
Spinner, Joseph Carl Jr. "JC", 74, passed away June 16, 2021 at Hospice Empath of Pinellas Park. He was born in New Orleans but lived in St. Petersburg since he was 12. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School and Pinellas Vocational Technical School. He worked as a security guard at GE. He proudly served in the Army, most notably being awarded a Bronze Star, an Air Medal with V Device, and a battlefield promotion while in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Spinner. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sallie Saunders Spinner; son, Anthony "Tony" (Joyce) Spinner; his siblings, Janice Smith, Jeanine (John) Tucker, Dolores Spinner, and Jerald (Christine) Spinner and nieces, Tanya (Keith) Zylka and Christina (Matt) Graf. He loved life, never met a stranger, and was beloved by all who knew him. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hot rods, music and traveling. He especially loved his trips to French Polynesia as well as a trip to Mexico City shared with his mother and mother-in-law to recreate a trip by his wife's long ago family trip. JC's memorial service will be Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11 AM. A gathering will begin at 10AM at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N in St. Petersburg. His burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday, July 6th at 10am at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
