Obituary of Donald Klosterman

Klosterman, Donald “Don”, 68, of St. Petersburg passed away June 28th, 2021 at Bayfront Medical Center. Don was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Charlotte Klosterman. He is survived by his wife Ursula Klosterman, children Jason Klosterman, Erica Feiter, Rebecca Klosterman, and Stephen Klosterman; siblings Richard Klosterman, Wendy Bartlett, Christine Klosterman, Kate Klosterman, and Michael Klosterman; and grandchildren Katherine, James, and Emma Feiter and Joshua Klosterman.

Born and raised in Mentor, Ohio, Don attended Mentor High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Dayton in 1974. Don’s years at Dayton were among his fondest memories. As a member of Cleveland Club he experienced many fun times and made numerous life-long friends, and Don also fell in love with the university’s Dayton Flyers basketball team. After graduation Don joined the family business, Herb’s TV and Appliance. Don married his wife Ursula in 1975 and they enjoyed more than 45 years together.  In 1983, they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. His love of working with people drew him into the financial field and he became a financial planner. Don served and cared for his clients making their needs his top priority.

Don was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and volunteered in the Boy Scouts. He was a Scout leader while his two sons participated. Afterward, his love for Scouting continued and he remained active as Committee Chairman. Don was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening, and nature photography. Among his favorite activities with his family were camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness and visiting the theme parks. Many of the trips he planned took the family to the mountains where they enjoyed campfires and waterfalls. Don enjoyed movies and was a great fan of Star Wars. His love affair with the Dayton Flyers also continued and his enthusiastic cheers and claps often resounded throughout the house. And when the cheers and clapping stopped, the music would sometimes begin – serenading his neighbors with the sounds of the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and the Moody Blues.

Don had a friendly, light-hearted spirit that made him the creator of jokes which brought smiles to people’s faces. His positive, relaxed nature always found the best in people and allowed everyone to feel welcome and at home in his presence.
