Obituary of Mary M Swanson

Mary M. Swanson, 81, of Riverview, FL, passed away in the early morning of July 5th, 2021 at The Bridges Memory Care Garden Suites under the loving care of Lifepath Hospice. Born in Washington, DC into a military family, Mary lived in many places, but attended High School in Heidelberg, Germany, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Major General Francis J and Catherine F McMorrow, and her brother, Thomas F McMorrow. Mary is survived by her sister Margaret M Anglin, her children: daughter Catherine M Bower (Macgregor) and son Paul G Ruud (Stacy); grandchildren Cody A Garcia, Jessica F Garcia (Jacob), Michael G Sheridan, and Jennifer S Ruud (Andrea); and great-grandchildren Elijah and Ari. Mary worked in real estate, and retired as a director at Fannie Mae. She loved to travel, and was an avid photographer. Mary shared her time and talent through volunteering, including the neo-natal unit at Penrose St. Francis hospital, and St. Vincent de Paul. She also loved animals and children, and they were equally delighted by her. Mary expressed her creativity in her final years through painting, and many of her family and friends continue to share her joy through those original works of art. Her beautiful smile, charming and generous spirit, and most recently, her bubble-gum pink hair, will be remembered by all who knew her! Mary's funeral mass will be at 1:30pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, FL. She will ultimately be laid to rest in her beloved Colorado.
