Steve William Hay

60, of St. Petersburg, passed away July 28th. He was born and raised in St. Pete. Steve graduated from Clearwater Central Catholic High School. He worked for Ralph W. Hay Plumbing for 18 years as a Master Plumber. From there, he became a Lt. Firefighter/EMT with the city of St. Pete for almost 30 years, having recently retired on May 4th. He was a twice selected Fire Officer of the year for the department. Steve was also an instructor with St. Pete College Fire Academy and continued there until his passing. He had earned his third degree black belt in Okinawan Karate and taught at the Bushido Dojo for many years.
He was predeceased by his father, Ralph and his brother Vinnie. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joanna; his son Conor; his mother Carol; his sisters Diana Helinger(Kerry) and Karen Fraciccio(Rudy) and many nephews, nieces, family and good friends who he loved.
Steve Hay changed the life of many people and he will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Make a Wish Foundation or your favorite charity. Services for Steve will be held Saturday August 14th at St. Jude Cathedral in St. Petersburg at 11am. A reception and celebration of life will be held at the Gulfport Casino following the Funeral Mass.
