Obituary of Edward Donald Boulanger

Edward Donald Boulanger, 80 years old, passed away August 30, 2021, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Ed was born on April 29, 1941, in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he remained a lifelong resident of the Waterbury area. Ed graduated from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School, served in the United States Air Force as a telecommunications specialist and attended Mattatuck Community College and Post College.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife Beverly and their four sons- Edward, Todd, Donald, and Christopher and his eight grandchildren- Haley and Matthew (children of Edward and Leigh), Patrick and Luke (children of Todd and Sandnes), Olivia and Nicolas (children of Donald and Alejandra), Jocelyn and Gabrielle (children of Christopher and Allison): his sisters Beverly Blatchley (husband James and children Carlene, Kerry, and Seanna), Kathy Kovzelove (children Barbara, Bryan, and Lynn), and Barbara Costello (children Kevin and Carissa): his favorite sister-in-law Carole Canfield and her children and grandchildren- Ricky (Heath and Alex), Kelly (Ryland), Kristin (Alexa, Dominic, and Max): He leaves behind a host of family and friends who he treated with the same love and care as his own family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine Boulanger.

Ed was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and School in Waterbury. He coached and mentored countless youth baseball and basketball players for 45 years at Wolcott Little League, Bunker Hill Sports Association, Blessed Sacrament School, St. Margaret’s McTernan School. Ed worked his entire career at and retired from the Southern New England Telephone Company in New Haven. He was a persistent golfer and enjoyed playing in his local golf league, but mostly loved golfing with his sons, friends, and grandchildren- we think he just needed help counting his score finding his ball.

Ed loved Beverly, his wife of 54 years, more than anything and treasured and valued the life they shared and the family they raised. He finally achieved his dream of moving to St. Petersburg, where his four sons and eight grandchildren all live. If you met Ed, you were sure to walk away with a smile or laugh. Ed was hard not to like had many lifelong friends and cherished relationships. He was always willing to share what he had and go out of his way to help those in need. Ed’s favorite activity was enjoying family and friends at countless backyard parties and celebrations. His sharp wit, dry sense of humor, warm heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church (12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury, CT 06708) or to New Heights Elementary School: Student Incentives Account (3901 37th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704). A Funeral Mass, which will be streamed live, is scheduled for 11am, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Florida.
