Obituary of John Montgomery, Sr

John A. Montgomery Sr., US Army Ret., 78, of St. Petersburg, passed away on September 11, 2021. Born in the small town of Glasgow, West Virginia November 21, 1942. As a young man, John began his career in the West Virginia Army National Guard before he transitioned into the United States Army in November of 1961. He proudly served the next 21 ½ years in the infantry and as a military policeman, before his retirement as a 1SG in June of 1982.

John is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Deanna Sue Montgomery; his brother, Jimmy; sister, Molly Jo; children, Suzette (Oskar) Hwass, John (Sherrye) Montgomery and James (Kathy) Montgomery; his 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;  and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Avenue North, on Saturday, September 18th at 1300 (1P.M.), with a service beginning at 1400 (2P.M.)
