Obituary of Joseph L Miller

Joseph L. Miller, age 71, of St. Petersburg, passed away on October 7, 2021. He was born in Beckley, West Virginia and moved to Florida in the early 1950's as a toddler. After graduating high school, Joe joined the United States Navy and served in communications.

Joe met the love of his life, Beverly Sams, in 1968 and married in 1978. Joe and Beverly enjoyed visiting Helen, Georgia, where they would rent a cabin. They would hike, visit all the waterfalls in the area and eat at favorite restaurants. They also rode motorcycles together and with friends.

Joe loved the accounting profession all his life, spending his career as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. At one time, he had his own practice while at other times working for firms such as Cherry, Beckaert & Holland of St. Petersburg and Pershing Yoakley & Associates of Tennessee. His favorite part of the job was getting to know his clients and keeping them on track to reach their financial goals. Joe was also a member of the Northeast Exchange Club and enjoyed working at the Rib Fest for the benefit of children.

Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverly Miller of St. Petersburg; son Bryan Miller of Texas; daughter Margarita Miller of Alabama; daughter Melissa (Timothy) Watterson of Indiana; grandchildren Emma, Jared, Grantland, and Jenna; and brother Mike Miller of Wisconsin.

Please join the family for refreshments from 9:30-10:30am on Saturday October 23 and stay for the Celebration of Joe's Life at 10:30am at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Avenue North, St Petersburg 33710.
