Obituary of Ida A Keel

Ida Alfreda Keel, age 79 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away of natural causes on September 17, 2021, at her home in Blueridge, GA. Ms. Keel was born December 13, 1941 in Brunswick, Maine to the late Raymond Fincher and the late Ida Vinje Fincher. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Keel.

Survivors include: sisters Judy Zimmerman and Sherry Fincher; daughters Julie Keel and Linda Eaton; grandchildren Jessica Love, Jamie Holcomb, Jeremy Ryan and Aurora Denz; great-grandchildren Joie Love, Tifa Love, Lexi Love, and Remington Hodge as well as other extended family members.

Ida held a Registered Nurse degree and a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. After a long career in the medical field, she was able to retire when she moved to Georgia in October 2020. She was so happy living in Georgia and being close to nature. There were many family vacations to the North Georgia area before Ida eventually moved there. A favorite destination was “Hooper’s Last Resort” in Blueridge, GA.

Ida loved to take long walks and work in the yard. She also enjoyed traveling and recently took a trip to Israel. Ida was a lifelong learner, with an interest in both reading and writing. She edited her father’s memoir “Looking Back: The Navy, The World and Me” and volunteered her time to write newsletters for several facilities where her son Brian resided. She was well known and loved for baking pumpkin bread and bringing it to family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Anderson McQueen, 7820 38th Avenue North St. Petersburg, FL 33710 on Saturday November 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
