Very sorry to hear about your father. He was a wonderful and very generous person. When I was working on his house in Terra Verde he would come down under the house and have lunch with us and just hang out for a while and talk about anything and everything. I will never forget him. One day we were getting ready to leave for a hunting trip and he came out to say good luck and handed me a 50cal muzzleloader barrel to use on my 500 pump shotgun. I will cherish the time I spent with him forever

We are among the lucky and honored to have known Alan Mossberg for more than 30 years, and in each of those years, we were always grateful for the kindness and friendship he has shown us, as well as the support he has provided for the National Mossberg Collectors Association. Alan Mossberg is the epitome of a great man who who worked hard and played by the rules, and operated under the "Golden Rule" at all times. We looked forward to those morning greetings on the show floor of various trade shows for many years. We will always remember the interviews we did back in the early 90s with "Mr. Mossberg" as we prepared the text of the history book, and we knew we were talking with a leader whose heart and soul were part of that business - the business that was built and continues to be built and expanded by his family. Our condolences to the extended Mossberg family at this time. Rest in peace, sir. Cheryl and Victor Havlin, National Mossberg Collectors Association

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message about my father in law, father figure, mentor and friend. It’s a shame that it takes events like this to make us realize the importance to let one another know how much we appreciate each other. I thank you for accepting me for who I am and being open-minded when I asked your permission to marry your daughter Gretchen. I am forever grateful for you judging me for my character instead of color of my skin as any real man would expect. I hope that I lived up to your expectations and have upheld the Mossberg name. I appreciate how you and Jayne have welcomed me in to the family with open arms. When I meet people who have at one time worked for you, they all have very high praise for you and your company! They tell me their experience working for you has never been matched after they moved on. I have been told they very much appreciated you treating them with respect and kindness and how many businesses should follow your lead. I will miss you as well but am grateful for memories of all of the fun times we’ve had. The few that really stand out are you attending my softball games during the days that I played. Taking me on fishing trips along with helping me to learn to play cribbage are a few of things that I will never forget. I will always appreciate you taking the time to be a mentor and provided me invaluable insight in regards to managing my departmental staff at Yale. As time goes on, I know there will be more memories that will come to mind, but in doing so, it will remind me of the honor that I’ve had to meet you and share many years together. Now that you are reunited with Jayne, I hope you will rest in peace!

Oh daddy, I miss you so very much. Thank you for loving me, trusting me, confiding in me and your confidence that I would take care of whatever you and mommy needed. We all had so much fun together. I loved listening to your travel stories, your childhood memories and astute mind. You were a leader in so many ways. But to me you were my dad first. You were very sad when mommy died and I hope that you have reunited with her. Thank you for the love you also gave to Dave, Alexandria and Bethanie. They love you more than you can imagine. I hope that you have found another cribbage & chess player! You are a legend in the firearms industry (as I’ve been told more times than I can count) and made an impact on many. Dad, you were a gentleman, kind and generous to many. Our hearts and souls are forever bonded with you. I love you daddy, Gretchen❤️❤️❤️❤️
