Obituary of Monica Fitzgerald

Monica Carr Fitzgerald, 37, of St. Petersburg, passed away suddenly on January 3, 2022. Monica was born in Subic Bay, Philippines, and grew up in Okinawa, Japan before finishing high school in Stuart, FL. She graduated with her nursing degree from the University of Central Florida and became an ICU nurse at Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs. Later in her career, she was a successful Mobile IV Medic, primarily helping serve individuals impacted by COVID. Monica is survived by her parents, Michael and Lucia Carr; sisters, Madonna Orsino and Jade Carr; her husband, Chris Fitzgerald; and children, Declan and Leilani Fitzgerald. Monica built a loving home as well as many cherished friendships in the St. Pete community and beyond. She was a strong, generous, independent woman, and an amazing mother to Declan and Leilani. She dedicated her life to building her family and home, and truly was a savant at balancing it all. She always was available for family and friends, for going on an adventure, or for helping anyone in need. A truly selfless and compassionate friend and mother, Monica helped others in any situation at a moment’s notice. She especially loved laughing, traveling, girls nights out, Bravo gossip shows, sushi, eating Filipino candy, scootering around the neighborhood, and spending time with her kids. Monica had a beautiful singing voice and loved to perform at family events. She even sang the national anthem at Tampa Bay Rays baseball games. Monica leaves a legacy of caring and compassion, and her beautiful smile and charming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her memorial service will be held on January 15th, 2022, at 11:00 AM EST at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Snell Isle in St. Petersburg, FL followed by a reception from 1-5pm at Riviera Bay Park in the pavillion, 8131 Macoma Dr NE, Saint Petersburg, FL 33702. The family suggests to bring a lawn chair for seating.
