Obituary of Betty DeBoer

Betty Anchors Alligood DeBoer passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the age of 100. Betty was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 24, 1921 as the youngest of John and Ludie King Anchors’ five children. Betty was married to Albert Alligood for 42 years until his death in 1987 and in 1990 married Willis DeBoer who died in 1991.

Betty worked for the Federal Government, State of South Carolina and Department of Agriculture for 37 years until her retirement in 1983. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved parents, siblings and niece, Martha Marie Barber White (Don). She is survived by niece, Sarah Ann Barber Lonquist, great nieces Carol Lonquist Russell (J.C.), Diane White Brown (Chris), great nephews, Dr. James Lonquist (Lauralyn), Donny White (Christie) and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Betty was most proud of her family and lived largely for them. All her friends considered her “Aunt Betty”. She had a deep devotion to each of her pet terriers who brought great joy. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was evident to all having the privilege to know her.

Betty lived her final years under the exceptional care of Bon Secours Maria Manor. Her family owes a debt of gratitude to the tremendous caregivers especially her Hospice Team.

A funeral service will be held at Anderson McQueen 2201 Dr. MLK Blvd. North in St. Petersburg, Florida on Tuesday, February 1st at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Blvd., St. Petersburg, Florida 33702.
