Obituary of Nasir Jamil Kassis
NASIR JAMIL KASSIS, 74 of St. Petersburg, FL passed away March 6, 2022 at home surrounded by his children and loved ones. Originally born in Palestine, he moved to the US in 1969 to start a new life in America. While visiting Palestine a few years later, he was reunited with Leila, a friend from his old neighborhood. Nasir and Leila were married in 1973 and began their life together in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nasir was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where he practiced his faith. He is survived by his brother Basim Kassis (Arizona) along with three loving children: Joann Kassis, Jamil Kassis, and Susanne Kassis, each of whom still remain in St. Petersburg. He also has 8 grandchildren—David, Ricky, Jasmine, Nicholas, Isabel, Branden, Lucas, little Nasir (Kevin)—one great grandson, Theodore. He was preceded In death by his loving wife Leila, his son Maher Kassis, his parents cido Jamil and Teta Zarifa, 4 brothers—Fahed, Fayek, Yousef Kassis, Hanna Khoury—and sister Johara David. Nasir had unconditional love and passion for his family and friends. He was loved by many and shared many memories with those who knew and loved him. He shared his Palestinan traditions and tasty foods with everyone he came to know. Nasir was a brilliant business owner, owning multiple successful food markets and real estate properties. There will be a visitation Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 9th St N. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:30 am at St Nicholas Orthodox Church, 6447 76th Ave N, Pinellas Park, FL.
