Obituary of Rochelle Simone Madeira
Rochelle Simone Guay Teixeira Madeira, 81, passed away peacefully at home with her family and friends on Thursday, March 17, 2022 after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, MA, to Omer and Lillian (Spirlet) Guay, Rochelle attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary. She graduated 2nd in her class in 1958 from St. Anthony High School and went on to receive her accounting degree from New Bedford Tech.
It was in college where Rochelle met and married Manuel Teixeira and had two children, Lisa and Daniel Teixeira. After the passing of Manny in 1966, Rochelle assumed the role of mother, father, and provider. She remarried in 1977 to Joseph S. Madeira and from this union, Joelle Madeira was born.
Rochelle was the last accountant at Morse Twist Drill, closing the books and company when it was sold. She finished her career at Shawmut Mills, retiring in 2005.
Rochelle moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 2014 to be closer to her daughters and to live out her life in a warm environment.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Raymond Guay, and sister, Charlotte Stoll.
Rochelle is survived by her children Lisa (Cathy), Daniel ( David), Joelle (Spencer), and siblings, Ronald Guay (Elaine), Jeanine Manny (Moe), and Paul Guay (Pat). Rochelle also leaves behind MANY nieces and nephews and close friends who were considered family.
Rochelle was a strong woman and a bright light in this world who dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was loved by many who consider her a second mom, special aunt, and a lifelong true friend.
Rochelle’s memorial service will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Anderson McQueen Northeast Chapel – 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 beginning at 10:00am at St. Jude’s Our Lady’s Chapel - 5815 5th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710; a link for the memorial mass service will be available shortly. Services in Massachusetts will be held later this year.
