Geraldine Kanaan

Obituary of Geraldine A Kanaan

Geraldine A. Kanaan "Geri", 82, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nanticoke, PA on August 18, 1939 to Barney and Anne Jablonski and is survived by her husband Mitchell and her brother Edward Jablonski who resides in Nanticoke. She graduated from Nanticoke High School and Germantown Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia as an RN. She married her husband in 1976 and moved to St. Petersburg in 1978 and they enjoyed a wonderful and exciting relationship for more than 46 years. Together they traveled extensively to most of Europe, all of the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and much of the United States; but cruising was their favorite, especially the months long ones and the river cruises.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church in Pinellas Park, Tampa Bay International, Infinity, and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Whether in her employment surroundings, or church organizations, or even in the many social organizations that she belonged, there was always a common acknowledgement "Everybody Loves Geri." For me, her husband, I never had a doubt that she was the most honest person that I have ever known and that she was the most beautiful human being that God ever created.

She made everyday of our lives a day worth living. Kris Kristofferson said it perfectly for me - "Loving her was easier than anything that I'll ever do." She brought a joyous attitude to everything that she did. If she talked to a baby, that baby's face would light up as if it were talking to an angel. If was in the tone of her voice that made them feel happy. Older men felt special in talking to her. Whether it was the nurses experience or that it was her natural ability to make others feel good, but being with her was always a positive experience.

Many thanks to the entire staff at Dr. Megan Indermaur's office for their dedicated and professional assistance during this painful and emotional 5 year experience.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13th, 2022 10 A.M. at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. with a Celebration of Life to follow after the service.
