Obituary of George Samuel Steffek

George Samuel Steffek, 95, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on May 27, 2022. He was born in Harvey, Illinois and graduated from Thornton Township High School. He immediately went into the US Navy and always remained a proud veteran of WWII. After serving his country, he went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Vincent De Paul University in Chicago. George was an active member and officer of the American Legion in Harvey. In 1982, he retired from Clark Equipment. George and Barbara moved to St. Petersburg in 1988. During this time, he enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth, and siblings Elsie Macaluso, and Dorothy Olson. George is survived by his wife of 72 years, Barbara, daughter Cheryl (Dan) McCarthy of Hastings, Nebraska, Judy Updegraff (Steve Holtz) of Elkhart, Indiana, and Scott (JoAnne) Steffek of Valparaiso, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons.

A Committal Service is being held a Bay Pines National Cemetery, on Monday, June 13th, 2022, at 1 pm

A Celebration of Life is being held at Village Green Clubhouse 2001 83rd Ave. N St. Petersburg, on Monday, June 13th, 2022, from 3 - 5:30 pm
