Obituary of David Lester Miller

David Miller, 66, of St. Petersburg, passed away June 10, 2022, at his home. Born in Des Moines, IA, he graduated from North High School. Though not a model student, he was heavily involved in student government, serving as Class President his senior year. He attended some college at the University of Northern Iowa and though he didn’t complete his degree, he strongly encouraged both his children to finish theirs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephus and Frances Miller. Dave is survived by his wife, Jolene Miller; his children, David Miller, Brice Miller, and Katy Miller; his daughter-in-law, Bea Miller; his grandchildren, Jameson, Liam, Bridger, and Colter Miller; and his siblings, Ron Miller and Karen Scheldroup. Dave was a loving and doting husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He spent years in the church he loved, Palm Lake Christian, using his spiritual gifts to be a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, deacon, board chair, and elder chair. Dave was an avid fisherman, happy to fish anywhere. As a child he would fish Spirt Lake in Iowa. In adulthood, he enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends in Wisconsin. Dave was a lover of all kinds of music, but especially the Beatles. He discovered a love of gardening and turned his yard into a beautiful butterfly garden, proudly showing off any chrysalises brave enough to attach to any of the leaves, the promise of a new butterfly. Dave always ensured that his family and friends knew how deeply he cared for them, often lending a helping hand or a listening ear whenever anyone needed it. Dave’s positivity, warmth, caring spirit, easy smile, and infectious laugh will be remembered by everyone lucky enough to have met him.

The Celebration of Life for Dave will be held at Palm Lake Christian Church on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donate to the church at PalmLakeCC.org or send a check to 5401 22nd Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710, with a note that it is in memory of David Miller.
