Obituary of Christine Henry Johnson

Christine Henry Johnson, 85, of St. Petersburg, passed away June 28, 2022 at Westminster Palms Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in 1937 and raised in Troy, NY, she received her diploma from Troy High School in 1955 and graduated from Russel Sage College in the class of 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education. Christine taught 1st and 2nd grades at Half Hollow Hills from 1959-1965.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Perry Henry and Dorothy Henry, and her brother William Henry, Jr. Christine is survived by her husband of 57 years, John A. Johnson, and by sons John A. Johnson Jr., and Todd H. Johnson. Daughter-in-law Sandra Johnson, and Anna Marie Tsangaris-Johnson and grandchildren Madeline, Ivy, Elina Claire, and Christiane Johnson.

Christine was a very independent and loving wife to John A. Johnson for 57 years. She loved music, played the piano, and danced. She loved her children and grandchildren, and they were equally delighted by her.

Christine lived in Huntington, NY, as well as New York City, NY. She was a member of Old First Presbyterian Church (Huntington, NY) Fifth Ave Presbyterian Church (NY, NY) and First Presbyterian Church (St. Petersburg, FL). She was active in Meals on Wheels and Heels on Wheels. At First Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, she volunteered by counting the money on Mondays, answering the phones on Tuesday, MOW Thursday, and other clerical duties on Fridays.

Her beautiful smile and charming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Christines Celebration of Life will be August 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter (800-272-3900, ALZ.org) or to First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg. Refreshments will be served directly after the service.
