Obituary of Mary Hammill

Hammill, Mary 2/16/1937 – 7/27/2022 Largo, FL. Mary J. Hammill Age 85, of Largo Florida, passed away peacefully on July Twenty Seventh, 2022, surrounded by family. She touched many lives, with her beautiful smile and personality. Mary graduated from Nazareth Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan and pursued a career in business. She enjoyed watching and participating in sports, family game nights and defending her winning titles! Recently, Mary and her grandson Steven, became fans of Formula 1 Racing. She also enjoyed the musical stylings of her grandson Noah, who loves to play the drums. Throughout her lifetime, Mary had been a dedicated parishioner at St Augustine Church in Kalamazoo, where she taught CCD classes for many years. Mary enjoyed music and performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. After meeting her husband Norbert, and raising their three children, they enjoyed living in Vicksburg, Michigan on Barton Lake.

Eventually Mary and Norbert moved to Florida where they were blessed with amazing family, friends and close neighbors. They became parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, Florida.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Norbert Hammill. She is survived by her sister Carol Cody of Houston, Texas; sister in- law Jane Kavanaugh of Kalamazoo, Michigan; three children; Tod (Patrice) Hammill of Seminole, Florida; Tonya Rogers (Dennis Holmer) of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Teryl Hammill (Karen Buczkowski) of Okemos, Michigan. Mary was very proud of her seven grandchildren and recent great granddaughter. She touched many lives throughout her journey. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished by nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home (7820 38th Avenue N, St Petersburg, FL 33710) Friday, August 26, 2022, from 5-7 pm. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11 am, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (11565 66th Avenue N, Seminole, FL 33772).
