THE OBITUARY OF CAROLE ANN (PIKE) HOLMES-GREEN

SUNRISE: SEPTEMBER 5, 1947 - SUNSET: AUGUST 16, 2022

Carole Ann (Pike) Holmes-Green 74 of St. Petersburg, Fla passed away peacefully with her family gathered by her side on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, in the Palliative Care Unit.

Carole was born in Worcester, MA the daughter of George P. Pike. and Mary  (McGuire) Pike, on September 5, 1947; Carole would have celebrated her 75th Birthday this year. She attended both Parochial and Public schools and graduated from the former Commerce High School in 1965.

Upon graduating from high school she married and started a family with her high school sweetheart, the late Richard C. Holmes who pre-deceased her in 1973.  Carole was blessed to have found true love again with her second husband,  Major Green, who also pre-deceased her in 1983, in Boston, Ma before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1977.

Carole leaves behind her children, Craig R. Holmes of Worcester, MA , Shane A. Holmes of St. Pete, Celeste T. Holmes of Los Angeles, CA and Anthony Green and his wife Kris of St. Pete; six grandchildren, Craig Holmes, Jr, Jovan Holmes, and Shaenna Holmes all of Worcester, Shaelina Holmes and Sade Holmes of St. Pete and Jordan Strong of Los Angeles, CA; two great grandsons, Bobby Skinner Jr of Worcester and Jhaedon Holmes-Stern of St. Pete. Two nephews, Christopher Mara and Scott Pike; two nieces, Kelly Pike-Hurwitz and Shay Paretti; four brothers, Gary, Greg, and Geoffrey Pike of Auburn, MA and Glenn Pike of Spencer, MA; a sister, Karen Parker of Scituate, MA; and extended family siblings, David DeLollis, Amy Kathman, Edward DeLollis and Daniel DeLollis. Carole was also predeceased by a brother George Pike, and sister-n-law, Jerry Pike; a sister, Kathy Becker; a niece, Lisa Pike; Helen and Victor DeLollis; and her longtime companion, Ernest Write.

Carole loved The Temptations and music of that era, she loved when you played her old school music; she would sway and reminisce, she loved to soak up the sun, loved the feel of a cool breeze on her skin, loved a slow drag of a cigarette, and puzzles of sorts.   Carole was always a cat lover and loved to name them after her favorite sports teams or players hence the names, Patriot, Soxs and Brady.

Carole always looked forward to special occasions, family events, and especially her favorite holiday, Christmas.

Carole was a social butterfly - whether her neighbors around the complex or co-workers throughout the years she was loved and respected.  Her former colleagues always speak very highly of her and share many stories of her time at Bayfront, where she served 30 years lovingly caring for patients as Admitting Coordinator and Mammography Administrator Assistant; everyone remembers her beautiful smile, great sense of humor, infectious laugh and charming spirit; she was resourceful and had a special knack for unconditionally helping patients and their families, if they felt lost, she always helped them find their way and if they had financial hardships she always stepped up and helped them get their much needed resources.

Carole loved her people, she spent most her career serving others, volunteering, and lending helping hand when she could.  From a young age volunteering at Piedmont Center in Worcester to the Annual Race for the Cure-Susan G. Komen, where she volunteered and was 2nd Organizer from 1990 until her health wouldn’t allow her to continue in 2010.

Carole’s celebration of her life will be on Friday, August 26th, 2022, at 2:00pm with visitation starting at 1:00pm, at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King St. N, St. Petersburg.
