Obituary of Keo Xayasone

Xayasone, Keo, 90 of St. Petersburg, Fl, passed away on October 23, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Nong Nam Chan, Laos, and was a Commanding Officer in the Laotian Royal Army. He immigrated to the United States in 1978, along with his family, as a result of the war. In the US, he was trained as a welder. Pa Keo was a founding member of both Wat Lao Temples. In retirement, he spent all his time volunteering in several senior capacities at both Buddhist temple of St Petersburg, and for some time was President of Wat Lao Buddha Phavanaram and VP of Wat Lao Mixayaram. He was instrumental in bringing Saung (Monk) to build revered statutes at the temple.

Pa Keo was a gentle man with an infectious smile. He most enjoyed volunteering at the Temple and belonged to several Laotian community organizations. He dedicated all his time and life to the Lao Temple and community. He loved reading and enjoyed his daily papers, spending hours on Sunday news and politics, fishing, and playing tham dang and poker with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He had great pride and joy in being around his children, wife, and grandchildren. He is very much loved and his family wishes him great peace and souk sai bai jai in heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Koun Xayasone, and Kam Xayasone. Keo is survived by his wife, Phonesy Xayasone, of St Petersburg, daughter, Kane and spouse, Sayanh Souktakith, Amarillo, TX, his son Khamphane and spouse, Khanthong Sidara of Amarillo TX. Khomphone Xayasone of St Pete, Fl, James Noy and spouse, Bonnie Narong of San Diego, CA. Bouabone and spouse, Tony Mongkhamsvath of Dumas, TX. Khanthavanh and spouse, Sinthavy Sengsouriya of Amarillo, TX. Ratsamy and spouse, Frank Alexander of Vero Beach, Fl, Lulu and spouse, David Hunter of St Pete, Fl, Keynavanh Sayasone of Amarillo, TX, Sulivanh Sidala of Amarillo, TX, Ketkeo Xayasone of St Pete, Fl, Vongvane Xayasone of LAOS, Vilavanh and spouse, Sai Xayasone of LAOS, Kannakhone Go and spouse, Lisa Xayasone of Oldsmar Fl, Ketsamone and spouse, Jim Shea of St Pete, Fl, and Soutchay Xayasone and spouse, Xam Nguyen of Clearwater, Fl, 32 Grandchildren, and 13 Great grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
