Dorothy Hoffman

Obituary of Dorothy Jean Hoffman

Dorothy Hoffman “Jeanie”, 86, passed away on December 18, 2022, at her home in Seminole Florida. She was born on July 10, 1936, in Greenville, Ohio.

Raised on a farm with her eight siblings, she learned to cook, can vegetables, sew, milk cows, and most importantly, play cards!  She graduated from Versailles High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Marcella Langenkamp; and her husband Gordon Hoffman.

Jeanie is survived by her children Lois Conger (Rod), Tom Sherman (Silvano), Linda Garcia (Ray), Dan Sherman (Cindy), and Kit Hoffman; siblings Marianne Brunswick, Carl Langenkamp, Edna Bruns, John Langenkamp, Ruth Oldiges, Dick Langenkamp, Diane Alexander, and Eileen Floan; grandchildren Jamie Mason, Brittany Pennington, Shelby Garcia, Ragan Garcia, Jacob Garcia, Anthony Sherman, and Breeanna Wallace.

Jeanie loved spending time with her large family, which included many friends and neighbors.  She was generous with her time, listening ear, easy laugh, and vivacious personality.  She had many passions in life, including becoming an accomplished painter.  She cherished weekly outings with friends playing bingo and “I got it!” at the local American Legion and VFW.  She never said no to another hand of cards and won more than she lost.

We have lost a beautiful spirit; she will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed.  Services are planned for this spring near her hometown in Osgood, Ohio.  Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital
