Obituary of Dorothy Calvert

Dorothy May Calvert (Cummings) age 92 of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Thursday February 23, 2023.

She was born in Erie, PA on July 6, 1930 to her parents Dorothy M. Johannes and Archie D. Cummings.

Prior to her marriage, Dorothy worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator.

She met the love of her life, Robert E. Calvert at a church social gathering. And on June 18, 1955 they were united in marriage. They raised their family in Erie, PA. Spending their summers in St. Petersburg Florida with Dorothy’s mother and step-father Frank Wisniewski. Upon Bob’s retirement they relocated to St. Pete. They enjoyed 50 years of a wonderful marriage.

In addition to raising her children, Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine; First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg, and her “church circle” for which she much enjoyed.

She was a loving and humble person who loved all and touched the lives of many. Her personality was infectious and we will remember her ability to speak like Donald Duck.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, her granddaughter Jackie and great-grandson Zach.

She is survived by her son Robert E. Calvert, Jr. (Carla), her daughter Pamela Szymanski (Richard), her grand-son Jason Szymanski (Saundra) and 7 great-grandsons. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday March 4, 2023 at 11AM at the First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg located at 701 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL  33701.
