Obituary of Satya Pal Nanda

Dr. Satya Pal Nanda, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 in St Petersburg, Florida.

Satya Pal, born on July 19, 1925, in Punjab, India. He became a physician in 1947 and married his wife Swaraj in 1953. He then briefly relocated to America to complete his medical training. He returned to India in 1960 and served as the Chief Medical Officer in the tea estates of Assam for several years. He then moved to New Delhi and practiced as a pediatrician until his retirement in 1994.

After retirement, Dr. Nanda and his wife, Mrs. Swaraj Nanda, settled in Florida. He was a lifelong member of the Rotary Club in India and in Pinellas Park. He was passionate about cooking and even compiled his recipes in two books on Indian cooking, “Everyday Indian Cooking” and “Kebabs of India.”

Dr. Satya Pal Nanda was predeceased by his wife Swaraj in 2008. He is survived by his siblings Ram, Ravi, Prem, and Vinod, as well as his three children, Manu Nanda, Meera Singh, Madhu Sekhri. He has four grandchildren, Arjun Nanda, Sonya Hober, Karan Sekhri and Jett Sinn. He also has two great grandchildren, Zubin Nanda and Selina Nanda.

The family would like to thank Suncoast Hospice for the care he received and to the special care givers that helped him over the last few years.

The funeral will be held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Ave N, St. Petersburg at 10 am on Monday, April 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Ekal Vidyalya organization.
