Obituary of Lois Ann Campbell
Lois Ann Campbell passed peacefully, surrounded by family, in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 8th, 2023. She was 87 years old. Lois was born December 28th, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Elsa Brutschy, in Bluepoint, New York. She graduated from Cortlandt State Teacher's College in New York and began a 43-year career as a kindergarten teacher in Bluepoint, moving to Florida in 1965, where she taught at Lealman Avenue Elementary School until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg since 1968, and a disciple of Swami Adiswarananda, the director of the New York Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center. Additionally, Lois was among the founding members of Friends of Strays, an animal shelter and adaption non-profit in Pinellas County, and active in her support of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the PCTA and the National Education Association. Lois was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Donald, her sister, Karen and her brother-in-law, David, and is survived by two sons, John and Scott, two daughters-in-law, Susan and Jennifer, six grandchildren-Robert, Brian, Serena, Jessa, Jordan and Jadyn-and a niece and nephew, Tanya and David.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 2:00pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home-Tyrone Chapel, 7820 38th Avenue N in St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, please offer donations to Friends of Strays by going to friendsofstrays.org and clicking on the "DONATE TODAY!" link.
