Obituary of Sheryl J Green

Sheryl Jackson Green “Sherry”, 75, of St. Petersburg passed away May 30, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Born in Seminole, Oklahoma, into a Navy family, Sherry grew up in Oklahoma, Texas, Maine, and Virginia, graduating from Granby High School, Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Velma Jackson and survived by her husband Rick. Sherry and Rick met at a Navy UDT/SEAL reunion in 1976 and they’ve lived in Virginia, California, and Scotland before settling in St. Petersburg in 1991 where Rick finished his Naval career at U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB. A very talented cook and gracious hostess, Sherry hosted numerous dinner parties in Scotland for the local civilian and military community as well as visiting members of U.S. and European military special units. Sherry received rave reviews for her Beef Wellington and Poached Salmon while Rick’s selection of single-malt whiskey was also well received. Sherry traveled extensively, visiting more than a dozen countries and made friends everywhere she went. An avid reader, Sherry enjoyed participating in a St. Petersburg book club later in life.
