Jane Stemm

Obituary of Jane Q Stemm

Jane Q. Stemm, 89 of Pinellas Park, FL, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024.  Jane was born on October 20, 1934, in Brooks, Maine, the daughter of Jerome Quimby and Sadie Nina Web Quimby.

Jane was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force where she was a Registered Nurse, and became a Captain.  The Air Force is where she would also meet the love of her life and husband, Marvin Joseph Stemm.  Marvin and Jane married in 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor, Maine, and they were married for almost 60 years when Marvin preceded her in death on July 29, 2015.

Active in her community at the Mainland’s, Jane could often be found playing shuffleboard or line-dancing up at the clubhouse.  She had many friends within the community and she deeply treasured each of her friendships.  She always kept her ties to her home state of Maine.  Jane loved going up to their cabin in the summer to listen to the loons call on the lake and to enjoy the hummingbirds.

Caring and loving, but also stern and strong are just a few of the words that could be used to describe Jane.  She was a friend to everyone and cared deeply about her family.

Surviving is her son, Joseph Stemm; granddaughters, Nicole Stemm and Therese Stemm; great-granddaughters, Lexi Ledford, Lily Melcer, and Emme Melcer; niece, Susan Reeder; and nephew, Allen Twombly.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Marvin Stemm; her parents; and one sister, Betty Twombly.

A burial of cremated remains will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 9am at Bay Pines National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
