Obituary of James C. Lipe

LIPE, James C. III, 78, of St. Petersburg died Friday, March 3, 2000. He was born in Asheville, NC, and came here in 1985 from Portsmouth, RI. During WWII, the Korean War and the Vietman War he served in the Navy and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after 31 years of service. He served on the USS Kittyhawk where he was a plank owner. After retirement from the Navy he was a columnist for the Newport Daily News in Newport, RI for many years. He was a Life member of DAV SC chapter #51; he was a Golden Years member of the Silver Wings Fraternity, a member of Fleet Reserve Association, and was the president of the Concord Village Homeowners Association. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothea; four daughters, Sharon Lipe-Pickering of Bucksport, ME.; Chryisse Lipe of Portsmouth, RI.; Deborah Lipe-Izzi of Dale City, VA.; Patricia Lipe of St. Petersburg.; one son, James C. IV of Tiverton, RI.; two brothers, Neil C. of Hendersonville, NC.; Morris of Waynesville, NC.; one sister, Patricia Schneble of Asheville, NC.; and 11 grandchildren.
