Obituary of Clarence Mac'' W. McKee

McKee, Jr., Clarence ?Mac?, 75, of St. Petersburg died Monday, March 27, 2000 at home. A native of St. Petersburg, he was a 1943 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, received an Associates of Arts Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1948, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania in 1951. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired as the Chief Financial Officer from Florida Progress Corporation in 1989, having started work at Florida Power in 1954. He was a member of Central Christian Church. His activities included Past Chairman, Accounting Division Advisory Committee, Edison Electric Institute; Past Chairman, Accounting Division Executive Committee, Edison Electric Institute; Past Chairman, Accounting & Finance Div. Executive Committee, Southeastern Electric Exchange; Past President ? St. Petersburg Junior College Alumni Association; Director & Past President ? St. Petersburg Junior College Development Foundation; Past President ? United Way of Pinellas; Past President ? Exchange Club of West St. Petersburg; Past President ? St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce; Past President ? Orange Belt Express, Inc. St. Petersburg Centennial; Past President ? Bayfront Center Foundation; Past Chairman of the Board, Bayfront Medical Center, Inc.; and recipient of the Robert T. Sheen Award. His social and civic memberships included the Dragon Club, Bucketeers, St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg Museum of History, and the Salvador Dali Museum. Survivors include his wife of 48 years: Maureen ?Tinker? McKee; a daughter: Patricia McKee Springer ? Miami, FL; three 3 sons: Michael and David, both of St. Petersburg, and Joseph ? Boulder, Colo.; one brother, Robert T., Lakeland, FL; two 2 sisters: June McKee and Iris Terrill, both of St. Petersburg; and eight 8 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Friday, March 31, 2000 at Central Christian Church, 4824 ? 2nd Avenue South, St. Petersburg. Friends are invited to attend an Irish Celebration immediately following the service at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg Junior College Foundation, or Pioneer Park.
