Obituary of Gordon Buddy'' Maxwell Reed

Reed, Gordon Maxwell ?Buddy,? 75, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday August 22, 2000 at Hospice House Woodside in Pinellas Park. Born in Cleveland, OH, he came here in 1947 from Norfolk, VA. He retired as Captain of the St. Petersburg Fire Department in 1968, where he was employed for 21 years. He was a former Mason, past member of Pasadena Country Club, and retired as post office mailhandler. He enlisted in the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor at the age of 16, and served in World War II. He gave up a football scholarship to serve his country. He also re-enlisted to fight in Korea. He lived a life of service to others. Gordon lives on through his wife, Patricia ?Pat? of 53 years, one daughter, Kathleen Porter of St. Petersburg, two grandchildren, Gregory Porter of St. Petersburg and Laurel O'Brien of Freehold, NJ, and three great grandchildren, Greyson Porter, Jack and Liam O'Brien.
